Laboratory of the Government Chemist (LGC)

LGC is an international leader in laboratory services, measurement standards, reference materials and proficiency testing in chemistry and related fields. It is the UK’s designated National Measurement Institute for chemical and biochemical analysis and is also the host organisation for the UK’s Government Chemist function.
LGC specialises in forensic science; pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, development and quality control; food chain and environmental surveillance and safety; life science, genomics, proteomics and basic research.
The daytrip will include a tour of the LGC facilities and an introduction, from leading scientists at the facility, to the research conducted at LGC and the cutting-edge science that it supports.
